Two
Namibians, Gerhard and Henriette Baufeldt established Leather Connection
CC, in 2001 in Windhoek.
Market
research showed that there was a demand in shoe repair items as well as a
demand for leather and leather tools and equipment for the
craftsmen/women. Many entrepreneurs in the informal sector are repairing
and manufacturing shoes, belts and bridles for a daily income. These
small businesses cannot afford to import and store products, at Leather
Connection, they can purchase small quantities to keep their business
running. Our shop is situated in 1 Parsival Street in Windhoek with easy
access and safe parking under shade netting and tress in our huge
garden.
We
extended our shop space by over 100 % during July 2005.
With
over 25 years of "leather, mechanical and factory history", Gerhard has
a high level of experience and is able to assist in purchasing
machinery, equipment and materials.
As an
appointed testing official for N.C.C., Gerhard is directly involved in
developing shoemaking and leather skills, to help to decrease
unemployment and poverty in Namibia. Women can easily manufacture leather articles
at home while being with their children and elderly.
During
the year 2003 the Equestrian field requested our services for repairs on
equipment and we later started importing and manufacturing riding gear. By
now we are the biggest Equestrian Supply Shop in Namibia. We strive to
supply equipment for all riding codes all over Namibia.
We
supply companies and private customers across Namibia as well as
Botswana and Angola.
We
trade in second hand and reconditioned machinery to supply affordable
machinery to our clients.
Ministries of Prisons and Correctional Service Shoe Factory machinery
were supplied by Leather Connection. Leather Connection will service and
repair the machinery and supply the leather, shoe components and materials.
We see
ourselves as a company who believes that our knowledge and service is
useful to our community and to our country, by developing skills and
improving economic growth in Namibia.
